Chad and Lindsey’s wedding could not have been a more perfect ending to an incredible 2019 wedding season.
Their venue was the perfect representation of our favorite city- Detroit. The Belle Isle Boat House, a little more than rough looking on the outside (after detrimental flooding on the island this summer) but once inside? Oh boy! Its unique space is a great reminder the cities old historic beauty. Having been around since 1839, that’s 117 years if you don’t want to do the math, its has the perfect mixture of both Old Detroit and the New Detroit.
From the moment I arrived you could feel the love that surrounded them by their families. Lindsey and her dad had an unofficial “first look” and it was one of the most emotional ones I have ever witnessed. I am coming up on 10 years of being a wedding photographer, and I can count on one hand the number of times I have cried at a wedding….. this was one of those times. Her dad was the sweetest that there ever could be. He talked up this special dance him and Lindsey have been taking classes and working on. Asking me to make sure I “took lots of pictures” because they didn’t have video there, I assured him I had him covered! Little did he know I was going to surprise them with recording it on an extra camera of mine… So, with the help of the DJ we were able to record it perfectly.
Chad and Lindsey have a special kind of love. One that you cant help but smile when you’re around it. Their vows were self written and there was not a dry eye in the room. Lindsey described her love for him the best way I have heard in a long time, Chad- you are my home. You are my Christmas morning. <3
Despite the freezing cold winds on the island we were still able to venture out and about for some beautiful pictures. Including a stop to the iconic majestic white marble fountain of Belle Isle, where the water happened to be frozen! Every one was a trooper and if we had froze solid? At least we would have had smiles on our faces!!
Here’s to you, Lindsey and Chad!!!
