By either canceling all together, moving the date or just eloping.

My husband and I eloped. He wanted a big wedding but I wanted the simplicity of an elopement. At the end of the day he was happy we went that route and how easy it was. As well as how “us” we were able to make it!

I get a lot of inquires for elopements every week. So I figured I would write out the photography expectations and timelines for elopement packages. Because there is still some confusion around that.

One thing to keep in mind is that an elopement is still a “wedding”- its NOT just a photoshoot/session. It’s still treated like a wedding and still requires the same amount of work for a wedding. Just on a smaller scale. The same expectations for a “big wedding” are there for an elopement or smaller wedding. There are certain things that go into a wedding that don’t go into a regular photo session. There is a lot of planning and preparation no matter the wedding size.

Something almost everyone is wondering when deciding to have a small wedding/eloping is: What can you get out of a small wedding?

This is totally a valid thought and concern and makes total sense! Especially if you have spent the last year or two envisions and planning a huge, grand wedding.

Small weddings and elopements can still be such a magical, special and wonderful event! Here is a list of my elopement time lines broken down and just what to expect by the amount of hours booked.

4 hours of photography:

• Getting ready photos
• First dance/cake cutting
• A local location change is possible
• First look is possible if you are wanting one
• Family photos/ family formals
• Detail photos of rings, flowers, etc.
• Couples photos in one or two locations
• Photos of your ceremony

3 hours of photography:

• First dance/cake cutting
• A local location change
• First look if you would like to have one
• Family photos/ family formals
• Detail photos of rings, flowers, etc.

2 hours of photography:
